Summary of Position: Teach and care for children, most importantly ensure their safety and well being.

 

Experience/Qualifications: The HEAD OF GROUP TEACHER (formerly known as Lead Teacher) will be responsible for the:

  • Daily supervision of the children and classroom;
  • Accommodating individual schedules and needs;
  • Facilitating age-appropriate activities.

Qualified HEAD OF GROUP TEACHER applicants must have:

  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field; and,
  • At least one (1) year experience related to caring for infants and toddlers.

-OR-

  • Infants and Toddler Child Care and Education credential; or, Infants Toddler Child Development Associate credential; or, other office-recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental period; and,
  • Two (2) years experience related to caring for infants and toddlers.

-OR-

  • Child Development Associate credential; and,
  • Two (2) years experience caring for children, one of which must be related to caring for infants or toddlers.

-OR-

  • Nine (9) college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or a related field with a plan of study leading to:
  • Infants and Toddlers Child Care and Education credential; or,
  • Infant Toddler Development Associate credential; or,
  • Other office-recognized credential specific to the infant/toddler developmental period; or,
  • Associate's Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development; or a related field, AND,

The ASSISTANT TEACHER will assist the Head of Group Teacher in the day-to-day care of children, facilitation of activities, and general classroom maintenance.

 Qualified ASSISTANT TEACHER applicants must have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; OR,
  • One (1) year experience working with children less than 13 years of age.
  • Familiarity with Bank Street/Montessori/Reggio Emilia methodology, a plus.
  • Local residency, preferable.

About Your Program: Currently only have 10-15 children. But we expect others to be returning next and following weeks, Looking for both a closer and opener both part-time to start, with the potential to grow into a full time position. Hours would be approx. 7:30 am to approx. 12:30 pm. Closing would be from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Beautiful, clean and fun work environment, paid vacation and sick time. Can provide more info during an initial phone interview. We have two locations with a third to open in Fall. This position is currently at 290 Broadway, Lynbrook, NY with the potential to transfer to another location.
