Course Description:

For infants to thrive in group care settings, teachers must form caring and responsive relationships with each child. Let’s explore the components of responsive caregiving and how to effectively build relationships with infants. Using knowledge of infant social emotional development, we will identify how trust is built by attuning to the needs of young children. Emphasis will be on identifying and understanding infant engagement and disengagement cues, and how these can be approached using the 3 steps in the Responsive Process. Participants will apply knowledge of temperamental tendencies in infants to adapt their caregiving routines for individual children.
